Remiel

Remiel (also Jerahmeel or Ramiel; Hebrew: “Mercy of God” or “Thunder of God”) is named in 1 Enoch as one of the seven archangels. His role involves guiding the faithful dead and overseeing divine visions.

In 1 Enoch 20:8, Remiel is described as the angel “whom God set over those who rise” — generally understood as the angel who presides over the resurrection of the dead and guides souls in the afterlife. In 2 Baruch (the Syriac Apocalypse of Baruch), it is Remiel who delivers apocalyptic visions to the prophet Baruch after the destruction of Jerusalem.

The name carries a beautiful ambiguity: “Mercy of God” in one tradition, “Thunder of God” in another. Both aspects reflect his dual role as comforter of the righteous and herald of divine judgment. He is the angel who stands at the threshold between this world and the next, offering both hope and warning.
